He was predeceased by: his father Rex Smith. He is survived by: his wife Elsie Smith; his children, T. Gene Smith of Geneva, AL, Cathie Moody of Dothan, AL, Tim Smith of Winter Haven, FL, Connie Edwards of Haines City, FL and K. Lee Darnell of Haines City, FL.; his grandchildren, Marshal Smith, Kerra Massey Strickland, Ryan Massey, MaKayla Massey and Nathan Darnell; and his great grandchildren, Mason Strickland and Fancy Grace Strickland. He is also survived by many other extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations be made to the church in order to be used for their community outreach and mission work.
