He was predeceased by: his parents, Herchel Land and Estelle Baxter Land; his wife Eleanor "Nell" Land; his granddaughter Magon K. Grimsley; and his siblings, Harold Gene Land, Lewis Elmore, Dorothy Land and Hazel Wimberley.

He is survived by: his daughters, Teresa Grimsley and Talana Kennedy (Brian); his grandchildren, Hunter Vogel, Alana Vogel, Michael Grimsley and Joe Grimsley, III; his great grandchild Levi Grimsley; and his brother Terry Elmore.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Collins Chapel Baptist Church, 5005 3rd Avenue.
