He was predeceased by: his parents, Ansel Benefield and Nodie McDaniel Benefield; his wife Jewel Benefield; and his children, James Roberts and Gloria Benefield.
He is survived by: his children, Alvin Roberts (Janis), Jerry Benefield (Lona), Brenda O'steen and Martha Tharp (Dennis); and his grandchildren, Allison Oliver, April Lipford, Heather Lambert, Kellie Benefield, Derek Tharp, Ricky, Aaron Roberts, Angela Taylor, Jeremy Roberts, Kristin Monday, Allen and Timothy Roberts. He is also survived by 17 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
