He was predeceased by : his parents, James Dannard and Carrie Mae Holland Whitaker; and his siblings, William Harvey Whitaker, James Andrew Whitaker, Cecil Palm Whitaker, Jack Thomas Whitaker, Jim Hastie Whitaker, Roy Abraham Whitaker, Aubrey W. Whitaker, Alvin Lee Whitaker, Walter William Walsh, Lloyd Adell Whitaker, Myrtie Mae Tindell, Mary Malissie Vickers, Bertie Walsh Taylor, Clarcy Eulah Walsh, Amie Maybell Crain and Katie Melvina Hamilton and a baby sister.
He is survived by : his wife Dorothy Evans Whitaker; his children, Dale Evan Whitaker (Eulene) and Diane Whitaker (Dennis Seymour); and his grandchildren, Carman Whitaker (Jessica), Sydney Whitaker Wolford (Marcus), Revonda Michelle Seymour, Michael Shane Seymour; 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
