He was predeceased by: his wife Mamie Louise Bell Dean; his parents, Jim Dean and Mary Dean; his siblings, Foy Dean, John "Pie" Dean, Johnnie L. Chatman, Dossie Dean Kirkland, Rossie Dean and Pearl Dean Griffin; his granddaughter Tquanika Pennywell; and his goddaughter Catherine Godwin.
He is survived by: his daughters, Elaine Dean Reeves (Stephenson) of Anniston, Annie Dean Spearman (Hank) of Hillside and Jacqueline Pennywell of Saint Petersburg; his grandson John Henry Hicks III (Nikisha) of Dothan; his great grandchild A'Miya Jazelle Hicks; his son Joshua Young; and his godchildren, Ruby Anderson, Jacqueline Faulk-Glover, Barbara Williams, Henrietta Ward, Karey Godwin and Jerry Godwin, Jr.. He is also survived by eighteen great grandchildren; Judge's sisters-in-law.
