He was predeceased by: his parents, Jim Sims and Margaret "Margie" Sims; his wife Pamela Sims; and his siblings, LuAnne Melendez and Jim Sims, Jr..
He is survived by: his siblings, Dianna Garcia (Daniel), Steve Sims (Donna) and Charles Sims. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
