She was loved and cherished by many people including: her mother Hilda Flynn; her sister Claire Matlin (Flynn); her father Patrick Flynn; her sister Reba McDermit (Flynn); her cousin Eileen Mercer; and her sons, Steve (Janet), George (Patty), Jim (Cheryl) and Tom. She was also cherished by 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
After enduring the solitary confinement for the covid-19 virus environment Shirley fell breaking her arm which caused her to be hospitalized.
