He was predeceased by: his parents, Esteban Schelmety and Marina Schelmety. He is survived by: his sons, Charles Schelmety, Jr. (Evelyn) and Douglas Schelmety; his brother Steven Schelmety; his grandchildren, Jonathan Schelmety and Stephanie Schelmety; and his great grandchild Madison Sofia Baker.
