He was predeceased by: his parents, Elston Smith and May Smith; and his wife Patricia Anne "Perky" Smith. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Bailey and Patrick Smith of Midlothian, VA; his grandchildren, Riley Smith of Wake Forest, NC and Addison Smith of Midlothian, VA; his cousin Denise Whitney of Anacortes, WA; and his corgi Lady Kathryn Anne.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks that contributions be made to the ASPCA, your local humane society, or Haven Hospice of Gainesville, FL.
