He was predeceased by: his mother Annie B. Sanders; and his sister Sally. He is survived by: his wife Edna M. Carter; his children, Carl Lee Smith of Frostproof, Joseph Carter, Jr. (Jamila) of Pensacola, David Carter Sr., Stacy Carter (Amanda) of Frostproof, Raymond Carter of Frostproof and Jack McCormick of Miami; his siblings, Aarron of Panama City, Willie Lee of Panama City, David of Panama City, Maggie of Panama City, Diane of Panama City, Freddie, Roy (Lois) of Miami, Catherine of Palham, GA and Ivette (Randy) of Pensacola; his parents-in-law, Bobby Pearlie (Perry) of Cairo, GA, Tim (Tynise) of Cairo, GA, Odell of Cairo, GA, Mary of Cairo, GA, C. W. Jr. of Cairo, GA, Grady (Willa) of Abbeville, GA, Willie and Lucious; and his cousin Diane Frost. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
