He was predeceased by: his parents, George Dowden and Gertrude Boggs Dowden; and his siblings, Rosie Faye, Virginia and Jessie.
He is survived by: his wife Loretta B. Dowden; his children, Christine Banks (Donald), Amanda Brown (Justin), Rolland "Dean" Dowden, Jr. (Carolyn) and Brad Dowden (Rita); and his grandchildren, Jessica, Jared, Douglas, Theresa, Hilman and BJ. He is also survived by six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
