He was predeceased by: his parents, Mabel Hopson and Joshua Hopson; and his wife Peggy Ann Scott Hopson. He is survived by: his daughters, Ellen Crowson (Jim) and Kay Bond (James); his grandchildren, John Bond (Caitlin), Lauren Goering (Tommy), Holly Sellars (Alex) and Conner Bond (Jami); and his great grandchildren, Sellars Bond and Lainey Sellars.
