He was predeceased by: his parents, John Alfred Appleby and Josephine Rigby Appleby; and his siblings, Jack, Jim, Red, Leroy, Ernie, JoAnn, Jeraldine, Janet and Judy.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Evelyn Graves; his children, Michelle Taylor (Steve), Ronda Moran (Greg), Melissa Burson (Mark), Jennifer Fleming (Ian) and Jerald Appleby, Jr.; his grandsons, Sean Sanders, Justin Sanders (Savannah) and Aidan Fleming; his great grandchildren, Kaleb, Halle, Dakota, Harrison and Hannah; and his brother Jeff Appleby. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
