The passing of Doris Merlene Day of Fort Walton Beach, Florida leaves a void in the hearts of many, as we bid farewell to a loving soul who departed on January 11, 2025 at the age of 95. She was predeceased by: her parents, Marie Sorensen (Solberg) of Fosse and Sonwald Andreas Sorensen of Bergen; her siblings, Inger, Mathilde, Stanley, Ralph "Duffy" Sorensen and Mabel Powell (Sorensen); and her son Steven Michael Day.

She is survived by: her husband George "Bud" Day; her children, George E. Day, Jr. (Mary Ann) of Niceville, FL, Sandra Hearn (Darren) of West Monroe, LA and Sonja La Jeunesse (Kent) of Milton, FL; and her grandchildren, Josh, Noel, Bethany, Peter, Yuri, Caleb, Lydia, Jacob, Victoria, Brian, Dusty, Audrey, Anna, Amelia and Kyle. She is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (1 Meigs Dr, Shalimar, FL 32579). A committal service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at 1 Cemetery Rd, Pensacola, FL 32508. A graveside service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Doris' memory may be made online or by check to Air Force Enlisted Village, including "Hawthorn House" in the remarks.
