It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Velma A. Sowerby (Fort Pierce, Florida), who passed away on February 1, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. Though Velma may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Velma touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Arthur Alderman and Grace Alderman; her husband George Sowerby II; and her sisters, Evelyn and Helen.
She is survived by: her siblings, Marion Thomas of Ocala and Arthur Alderman (Sarah) of Steinhatchee, Florida.; and her sons, David (Cindy), Van (Amy) and Roy. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Haisley Funeral & Cremation Service (3015 Okeechobee Rd, Fort Pierce, FL 34947). A funeral service was held on Thursday, February 13th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the same location.
