She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Ivanhoe Dawkins and Muriel Dawkins; her children, Christine and Stephen; her husband William M. Cunningham; her stepchildren, Stephane, Karen, Mark, Vernita, Vicki, William Eric and Elaine; her grandchildren, Allan, Ian and Taylor; her stepgrandchildren, Shay, Lakisha, Alex, Kiatta, Samuel, Abraham, Eric Jr., Kayla, Gabriel, Essence and Armoni; her great grandchildren, Jenna and Tiana; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Harmony and Noah. She was also cherished by 5 siblings.

In 2012 she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's, a battle she could not win.
