It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mother Essie Lee Derrick of Fort Pierce, Florida, who passed away on July 22, 2024, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her mother Essie Lee Derrick; her former husband Charles Derrick; her son Shelly Randolph Townsend (Bertha); her grandson Yuri Andre Townsend (Sandra); and her siblings, Mizel (Ruth), George (Dorothy), Cleveland, Estelle (Sherman), Viola (Primus), Mary (Tony) and Elenora (James).
She is survived by: her brothers-in-law, Bishop Harry Gordon, Albert Graham and George Townsend; her sisters, Overseer Dorothy Gordon, Elizabeth Graham and Dorothy Townsend; her son William Derrick; and her grandchildren, James Edward McGinnis, Jr., Shelley Anthony Townsend (Anna), Latasha Moore, Shayla Townsend-Thornton (Trevathan) and Caress Monea Williams.
