She was predeceased by: her husband Clarence "Cal" Hayes; and her siblings, Marjorie Sexton, Clara Eloise Butler and Irvin Montgomery. She is survived by: her son Robert Hayes (Carol); her grandchildren, Michael Hayes and Anna Hayes of Fort Pierce, FL; and her nieces and nephews, Ann Sexton Bingham of Columbus, GA, Michael Sexton, Julian Butler, III and Mary Margaret Butler-Miller of Laurinburg, NC..

In lieu of flowers, Monte would be grateful for donations to be sent to Thornwell Foster Care where her mother worked for years and has become part of the Montgomery heritage.
