He was predeceased by: his parents, James Blackshell, Sr. and Thelma Edwards; his stepfather John Star; his son Dontavious Blackshell; and his brother-in-law Preston Joyner.
He is survived by: his former wives, Patricia Gilchrist and Phyllis Fishburn; his stepson Russell Matthews; his fiancée Regina Richardson; his daughter Lakesia Blackshell of Vero Beach, FL; his stepdaughter Myishea Blackshell of Fort Pierce, FL; his sons, James Blackshell, Jr. and Demond Blackshell of Fort Pierce, FL; and his siblings, Herman Reshard (Annie) of Tallahassee, FL, Mark Reshard (Pricilla) of California, Noah Edwards of Mayo, FL, Ishmael Star (Candance) of Fort Pierce, FL, Barby Ann and Tish Ann Star of Vero Beach, FL. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends… a special granddaughter.
