It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Irene Dekker of Fort Pierce, Florida, who passed away on November 17, 2024, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Irene Dekker to pay them a last tribute.
She was predeceased by: her husband Louis Dekker; and her siblings, James Boender, Nelson Boender and Sandra Warner. She is survived by: her children, LuAnn Vandersteen (Alfred) and Dean Dekker (Karyn); her grandchildren, Kandice Koch, Danae Dekker and Jacob Dekker (Brittany); and her brother Ronald Boender.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Smits Funeral Home (2121 Pleasant Springs Ln, Dyer, IN 46311). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to Samaritan's Purse (http://www.samaritanspurse.org.) or Illiana Christian High School (http://www.illianachristian.org.) Even in her final days, she never complained.
