He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Maltby Watkins and Gene Watkins. He is survived by: his wife Valerie Matthews Watkins; his children, William Watkins (Natalie K. Watkins), Allison Watkins and Lillian Watkins; and his siblings, Foxworthy Watkins and Derby Watkins.
He was also a lifetime member of the Mercer President's Club, a member of the Mercer Press Board and the Mercer Athletic Foundation Board.
