He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Robert Summerlin, Sr. and Claudia Ramsey; his daughter Pamela; and his siblings, Richard Robert Summerlin, Jr. (Dick), Bryant Summerlin (Astor), Joseph Summerlin (Archie), Charles Ramsey, Dennis Brittain Summerlin, Manetta Gould, Charlotte Summerlin and Lucille Richardson.

He is survived by: his wife Karen; his children, Herman Roy Summerlin, Jr. (Ann), James Summerlin, David Summerlin, Susie Quandt, Jan Hagan, Peggy Allen (Bobby) and Joy Yancy (Robbie); his stepchildren, Jesse Davis (Anna), Jamie Davis and Jennifer Davis; and his sister Mary Ann Price. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
