She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Vitale and Josephine Vitale; her husband Mario James Scalzo; and her siblings, Connie Parke, Sara Morella and Thomas Vitale.

She is survived by: her children, Linda Scalzo (Maureen Kenyon) of Port St and James Scalzo (Stella Vasilakis) of Toms River; her grandchildren, Zachary Scalzo (Kelsey) of West Chester and Sophia Scalzo of Paris, France; and her pet Dixie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice in memory of Elizabeth J. Scalzo.
