He was predeceased by: his siblings, David Propps and Marilu Propps; and his former wife Diane Nielsen. He is survived by: his daughters, Angela J. Duncan, Brenda J. Kelley and Carla J. Hyde; his wife Brenda Wester Propps; his stepson Jason Wester; his daughter Julia Wester; and his grandchildren, Ryan Duncan, Brent Duncan, Andrew Kelley, Amanda Jones and Jacob Kelley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Deer Park Buddhist Center.

“George was a wonderful friend and fellow dharma student at Deer Park. After losing our jobs at the University George suggested we start our own business. Although we showed no inclination, he followed through and mailed us printed materials on starting a business. Through George’s encouragement and support we were able to support ourselves for the following years. We. are very grateful! We are sorry for your loss. Ann and Martin Chavez”
