She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Sidney Earnest Stokes and Mary Ellen Slay; her husband Ed Brown; her brother Bert Stokes; her sister-in-law Connie Stokes; her sons, William Sydney Ivey and Sterling Ivey; her daughters-in-law, Angie Ivey and Denise Ivey; her grandchildren, Trevor Ivey, Caleb Ivey, Bryson Ivey, Emily Ivey and Joshua Ivey; and her cousin Kenny Slay. She was also cherished by her husband, brother, children, grandchildren, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in the name of Sylvia Stokes Brown to either the Alzheimer's Association or the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
