He was predeceased by: his parents, William F. Meehan and Katherine Kaneft Meehan. He is survived by: his sons, Jeff and Jamie (Mala); his former spouse Dixie Meehan; his grandsons, Austin and Shane; his sister Judy Gammel; his niece Katherine Gammel; and his nephew David Gammel (Andrea) of Omaha.

He later served as the executive director of the Broward County Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, before retiring.
