David George Dufour Obituary
David George Dufour of Ft Lauderdale, FL died peacefully at hospice on Saturday August 5th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Lynn, MA to the late Emily Dufour Simpson and Roland "Duffy" Dufour and pre deceased by his brother Richard Simpson.
Dave was known as a gentle giant and was adored by everyone that had the pleasure of being his friend.
He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1957. He attended colleges in Fulton, MS, Boston, MA and Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
An avid athlete that excelled in basketball in both high school and college and golf…lots of golf.
Dave had many professions throughout his life including rehab counselor, and transportation professional. He made life long friends everywhere he worked.
Above all, Dave was a genuinely kind person that changed the lives of countless people within his communities by sharing his experience, strength and, hope. As someone recently remarked "they broke the mold with that one".
He will be greatly missed.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife Diane Dowling Dufour of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, his children, Darlene Cullwell of Wakefield, MA, David Dufour (wife Gayle) of Marblehead, MA, and Dan Dufour (wife DeAnn) of Siesta Key, FL, and Waterford, MI, and step children Karen Macioci (partner Sanford) of Weaverville, NC, and Dana Maher (husband John) of Destin, FL.
He was also survived by his grandchildren, Ethan Cullwell, Mariah Cullwell, Hannah Cullwell, Jennifer Dufour, Jessica (Dufour) Ietto, David Dufour, Grace Foran and Jake Maher and great grandchildren, Benjamin and Charlotte Ietto.
A memorial service will be held at Kraeer-Fairchild Funeral Home in Ft Lauderdale on September 30th, 2023 from 1:00-3:00pm.
