He is survived by: his wife Melba Bowen Vanzant; his stepchildren, Jeff Bowen, Joey Bowen, Tracy Bowen and Robin B. Hasty; and his siblings, Roland Vanzant (Deloris), Norita Davis, Ava June Bryant (Bobby) and Cherrie Whitley (Michael).
