He was predeceased by: his sisters, Claire E. Graves (Garvey) and Joan M. Beaudry (Garvey). He is survived by: his wife Helen (Sweety); his children, Cheryl A. Garvey (Ron) of Ashland, John F. Garvey Jr. (Sandy) of Dundee and Patricia Garvey (Christopher Clements); and his grandson Colten G. Clements of Fernandina Beach, Florida..
