It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elsie Whikehart of Fernandina Beach, Florida, born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, who passed away on October 25, 2024, at the age of 92, leaving to mourn family and friends. As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Elsie may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Meiners and Hilda Meiners; her husband John Whikehart; and her brother William H. Meiners. She is survived by: her friend Elsie; and her children, Bill (Karen) of Northville, MI, David (Janet) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Doug (Jennifer) of Croton and Anne Hall (Scott) of Issaquah, WA..
Visitation was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home (1360 N Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953). A graveside service was held on Monday, November 4th 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Brevard Memorial Park (320 Spring St, Cocoa, FL 32927).
Elsie's family ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The Lakeside Staff Holiday Appreciation Fund to thank them for the amazing and loving care Elsie received there for the last 3 1/2 years.
