John R. Lovett Obituary
John R. Lovett, 88, of Estero, FL, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born on March 2, 1933, son of the late James Russell and Gertrude (Nicholson) Lovett. John is predeceased in death by his wife, Sarah (Coppack) Lovett, his older siblings, William Lovett, Robert Lovett, Mirrim Mills, Lucille Cameron, Elen Burmingham, Kathleen O'Day, Jane Gould, and Patricia Dupuis.
John is survived by his daughters, Dawna Tremblay of Palmer Lake, CO, Kathy Lovett of Haverhill, MA, Kelly Lovett of Estero, FL; son, Mark Lovett of Estero, FL; eight grandchildren, Daniel Tremblay, Christopher Tremblay, Bryan Tremblay, Shannon Pendak, Chelsea Nardone, Corey Nardone, Gretchen Fieldhouse and Mac Fieldhouse; either great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as his long-time companion, Rosemary DeCicco.
John was born in Lynn, MA and was a long-time resident until he retired and moved to Florida. During the Korean War, John enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. While serving as a Corporal during the Korean War, he sustained battle wounds, becoming a decorated war veteran. John was a Manager at General Electric; served as the Parking Commissioner of Lynn; the successful owner and operator of a variety store, The West Lynn News.
After retirement, he enjoyed playing golf, sang in a barbershop chorus as well as in the Cascades chorus program where he lived in Estero. John received many civic volunteer awards throughout his life as well as volunteering with Challenger Baseball, a league designed for children and young adults with special needs. John had a caring and charming personality, always quick with a limerick or an Irish song.
He will be dearly missed by the many friends that he acquired throughout his lifetime, but especially by his children, who loved and respected him. Arrangements are being handled by Shikany's Bonita Funeral Home and Crematory, Family Owned and Operated since 1978.
