He was predeceased by : his parents, Russell Benton and Martha Irene Benton (Whitmore); and his wife Nancy L. Counts (Hawisher). He is survived by : his children, Stephen Counts (Fawn), Mark Counts (April) and Dean Counts (Alison Sims); his grandchildren, Brady Counts (Tina), Casey Counts (Kelley), Kaeleigh Counts and Jenna Counts; and his great grandchildren, Taylor Counts, Lauren Counts, Cooper Counts, Caden Counts and Lincoln Counts.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to South Side Christian Church or Hospice.
