He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Bates; his brother Harold Bates (Lisa) of Coopers Plains, NY; his mother-in-law Madeline Welty of Painted Post, NY; his daughter-in-law DeDra Bates of Englewood, FL; his grandchildren, Madison and William Bates of Englewood, FL; and his nieces and nephews, Steve Hand (Cindy), Chris Hand (Ann), Dellie Rogers, Debbie Brown, Gina King and Kristi Nettles.
