He is survived by: his wife Judith Van Landegend (Hazewinkel); his children, James P. Van Landegend III, Jon S. Van Landegend (Janet) and Joni L. Sabo (Justin); his grandchildren, Sawyer, Edison Sabo and Robert Van Landegend; and his sister Allys Spilios.
