He was predeceased by: his wife Lucy. He is survived by: his children, Fran and Joe Jr.; his daughter-in-law Melissa; his grandchildren, Joanna and Christopher; his great grandchildren, Ava and Olivia; and his sister Mary (Shirley Aiken).
