He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Tolar and Annie "Doris" Stewart Rowland; his stepfather Charles Stewart; his parents-in-law, Wilson and Linnie Lingo; his brother James Tolar (Betty); and his son Bruce Harrell.

He is survived by: his wife Ada Tolar; his siblings, Christine Rogers, Ralph Tolar (Barbara), Fay Johns, Fred Tolar (Janet), David Stewart (Jackie) and Dianne Stewart; his children, Lynda Nickols (Pete), Brenda Barrineau (Jackie), Mike Harrell (Kim), Randy Harrell (Marlene) and Chad Tolar; his daughter-in-law Susan Harrell; his brother-in-law Larry Lingo (Patti); and his grandchildren, Jimmy Harrell (Michaela), Taylor Harrell (Danielle), Shelby Todd (Jeremy), Blake Harrell (Kayla), Lane Harrell and Teagan Nickols. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, great grandchildren and many close friends.
