With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Richard Varnadoe (East Palatka, Florida), born in Palatka, Florida, who passed away on April 5, 2018 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, James Paschal Varnadoe and Effie Mae Leaptrot Varndoe; his siblings, Eddie Varnadoe, James Varnadoe, Marion Varnadoe, Dalton Varnadoe, Robert Penouilh and Barbara Bridges; and his half-sisters, Eulah Marshall and Eunice Nelson.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Polk Varnadoe of East Palatka; his children, Margaret "Meg" Scharfschwerdt (Bill) of Holly Hill, Greg Varnadoe (Joni) of Apopka and Richard E. Varnadoe, Jr. of White Lake, MI; his siblings, Harry Varnadoe (Merle) of Palatka, Mary McDonald of San Mateo and Betty Golden of Ocala; his sister-in-law Betty Sue Varnadoe of Ocala; and his grandchildren, William Scharfschwerdt, Katie Scharfschwerdt, Matthew Scharfschwerdt, Marli Varnadoe, Laney Varnadoe, Samantha Varnadoe and Richard E. Varnadoe, III. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from Noon until the time of services at 1:00 P.M.
