He was predeceased by: his parents, James N. Darnell, Sr. and Mary Helen Brooks Darnell; and his daughter Robin Darnell Robinson. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth; his sons, James "Jay" Darnell, III (Summer) of Winter Garden, FL, Benjamin Darnell of Eagle Lake and Brooks Darnell (Venessa) of Tampa; and his sisters, Diana Davenport (Don) of Montgomery, Alabama, Debbie Brand (Charlie) of Montgomery, Alabama and Michelle Hensley (Jerry) of Montgomery, Alabama. He is also survived by five grandsons; and one granddaughter.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to The National Vietnam War Museum in his name.
