It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Dorothy Marie Grimsley of Eagle Lake, Florida, who passed away on March 23, 2025, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Howard Buster Pate and Emily Francis Moyer Pate; her husband Joe Grimsley; her children, Janet Joy Grimsley and Jimmy Doyle Grimsley; and her siblings, Arthur Howard Pate, Dessie Etheridge and Diann Johnson.
She is survived by: her children, Janice Morrison (Steven) of Bartow, Glynis Thompson (Charles) of Winter Haven, Gary Grimsley (Lesa) of Wauchula, Jerris West (James) of Bartow, Jerry Grimsley (Sherry) of Wauchula, Joy Delaney (Mark) of Eagle Lake and Jarrett Grimsley of Williston, Florida.; and her sister Waynoma Fort (Rick) of Paducah. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Friday, March 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Gateway Church (4937 Hwy 17, Bowling Green, FL 33834). A burial was held on Monday, March 31st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241).
