He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Lee and Katie Bell Phillips (Word); and his son Gregory Phillips. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Phillips; his daughter Denise Vogelgesang (Tom) of Monticello, FL; his siblings, Michael Phillips (Susie) of Dunnellon, FL, Gay Crenshaw (Gilbert) of Wildwood, FL and Katren Higgs (Wally) of Buena Vista, GA; his grandchildren, Danyale Weems of Carrollton, GA and Emily Vogelgesang (Jordan Lewis) of Charleston, SC; and his great grandchildren, Kile Weems (Kyleigh) of Carrollton, GA and Koree Weems of Carrollton, GA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Holy Faith Episcopal Church (19924 W Blue Cove Dr, Dunnellon, FL 34432).
