He was predeceased by: his former wife Loretta; his sons, Jody Merrell and Tom Brown; and his grandson Joshua Tartaglia. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his daughters, Cindy Smyth (Danny), Brenda Kingery (Dean), Cathi Davis and Debi Mims (Dwayne); his brother Wilton Merrell; his friend JoAnn Burton; and his pet Bentley. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
