He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Earl Matson and Evelyn Emily Matson (Butterworth); his son John Franklin "Frankie" Alphin; and his brother Robert E "Bobby" Matson, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Joyce Faye Matson (Taylor) of Dunnellon; his daughters, Genna E. Matson of Littleton, CO, Alina M. Vandawalker (Todd) of Ormond Beach, FL and Kristen K. Alphin of Hickory, NC; his grandchildren, Everly and Lyra Vandawalker; and his daughter Keasey Lea Alphin.
