She was predeceased by: her parents, Johan Schmidt and Susan Schmidt (Weslow); her sisters, Wanda Hoferman, Marie Williams and Artbutis Schmidt; and her daughter Patricia Owens Heller (Sifker).

She is survived by: her children, John K. Owens, Rodney C. Owens, Maurice Owens (Eugene Heller), Tyan Lee, Tina Lee and Dean Young (Kristina Jones). She is also survived by seven children.
