Randy Ross Obituary
Randy Ross, age 70, of Destin, Florida, formerly of Morehead and Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Select Specialty Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.
Born February 27, 1950, in Ashland, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Herbert C. and Rebecca Patton Ross and spent much time in Morehead with his grandmother, Bea Patton.
Randy is survived by his devoted wife and the love of his life, Lynn Bradley Ross; five children, Christopher Ross of Destin, Florida, Cameron Ross of Destin, Florida, Ashley Phillips of Tampa, Florida, Cory Simmons of Norfolk, Virginia, and Lacy Stevens of Ashland, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren; and his best friend, Joe Raymond of Destin, Florida. Others to cherish his memory are extended family and many dear friends.
Randy, an entrepreneur, owned and operated several businesses during his lifetime. For years, he worked with his dad in a coal mining business where he invented and patented a machine that cleaned coal. He was a former drag car racer and had a passion for building engine for NASCAR drivers. In one NASCAR race he had built the engines in 34 of 36 cars racing that day. Randy was currently rebuilding his own Corvette that he treasured. For the past several years, Randy owned and operated a drug rehabilitation center that was considered one of the best in the country. Randy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Destin. He loved Pepsi, his Welsh Corgis—Timmy and Pupa—and most of all his family.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at the Patton Cemetery in Soldier, Kentucky, with Chaplain Jesse Perry officiating.
