Robert Charles Ziller Obituary
The family of Dr. Robert C. Ziller are saddened to announce the passing of their beloved husband, dad, granddad and great granddad on November 9, 2022 at his home in Deland, FL with his devoted wife and caregiver by his side.
He was born 28 January 1924 in Escanaba Michigan to Charles and Marcella Ziller.
While studying at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor he met and married his first wife Patricia Connors.
His education was interrupted by his service to our country on Normandy Beach 1944 during World War II where he was a medic and received a Purple Heart for his wounds. Upon returning home he completed his education and received his PhD while researching with the Air Force in San Antonio Texas. He taught at a total of three Universities - the University of Delaware the Univery of Oregon at Eugene and finished his professional career at the University of Florida where he retired as a Professor Emeritus with the Social Psychology Deptartment.
He is preceded by both of his parents and both sisters Arlene and Lois. He is survived by his children with Patricia - Roberta Lee, Jeff (Annie), Jacquie (Roy), and Mark. He is also survived by his wife Geneva and her children Jeff (Kristin) Purdy, Jennifer Purdy, many grandchildren and several great grand children.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to animal abuse prevention or children’s health funds as these became meaningful issues and charities of his.
A Celebration of life will be held Jan 28, 2023 at a yet to be determined time and place. He will be interred militarily at a later time.
