He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard H. Umberger and Geraldine Umberger; and his sister-in-law Constance Lynady Brzuska. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Lynady Umberger (Patty); his children, Perry Lyle II and Michele Bishop (Jeffrey); his brother Richard Umberger (Susan); his granddaughters, Hannah Lyle, Patricia and Grace Bishop; his brothers-in-law, Jack Lynady Jr. (Cynthia) and Mark Lynady (Jill); and his extended family, Chris, Andy and Lexi.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to First United Methodist Church, DeLand.

“I never had the honor of meeting Karl, but was told about him through his son Perry Lyle, II, Hannah his granddaughter and my beloved daughter, Cindy.. he was described to me as a great man. His legacy in words described to me by his son, was a man with integrity, intelligence, kindness, always supportive and a very hard worker. It would have been an honor to have met him. My condenses and sympathy go out to each of his family members, as they grieve his loss. May he rest in peace.”
