It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Vinton Ailes of Deland, Florida, born in Lancaster, Ohio, who passed away on April 8, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James C. Ailes and Gertrude Pemila Ailes; his former wife Rita Ailes; and his daughter Tina Lynn Sonnenfeld. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Ailes; his son James V. Ailes Jr. (Annette); his grandchildren, Monica Sharpe (David), Blake Ailes (Erica) and Nathan Sonnenfeld (Julia); his great grandchildren, Jase Sharpe, Deegan Sharpe, Rowan Ailes, Lorelei Sonnenfeld and Roslyn Sonnenfeld; his stepchildren, Emily Dean, Travis Dean (Jennifer) and Kaylee Dean; and his stepgrandchildren, Luke Dean, Esther Dean and Amie Squires.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be in his name to AdventHealth Hospice.
