DeLand - Henry Ivan Mills, Sr. (79), DeLand, Florida. a 100% disabled 10 year USMC, SSGT, Veteran
of Vietnam, died at home (December 17). He earned a Silver Star Vietnam Cross Medal of Gallantry. Mr. Mills was born in Newark, OH on Feb 3, 1942 and moved here from Portsmouth, VA in 1978. Survivors include his wife of 29 years Mary, one son Henry (Butch) Jr. three brothers: Corwin, Columbus, OH Gery, Deltona, Fl; and James, Oklahoma City, OK;
four sisters: Carolyn Cooper, Newark, OH; Mary Becker, DeLand, FL; Margaret Shaneyfelt, Auburndale, FL; and Betty Blevens, Columbus, OH. He is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased in death by his parents, Herman & Berneta Mills, a daughter, Leilani in 1985 and a brother
Danel. He is a Life member of the VFW of DeLand and the DAV of Orange City, FL a of member of the Fleet Reserve of Sanford, FL, the American Legion Post 6 of DeLand, FL. the Fraternal Order of the Eagles of DeLand, FL. and is also a member of the Marine Corp League Detachment 1144 in DeLand, Fl. He was well known for helping anyone in need of anything, anywhere and at any time of day or night, if it was something he was able to do. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 22nd from 5-7pm at Allen-Summerhill Funeral Home in DeLand. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23rd at 11am at Allen-Summerhill Memorial Chapel in DeLand, with burial at DeLand Memorial Gardens. Allen- Summerhill Funeral Home, DeLand is in charge.
