He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Sactus Wright and Daisy Wright; his children, Danny Lee Wright, Jr., Joe Teixeira, Roan Hamby, Bonnie Lynn Wright Loos and Irene Marshall; his siblings, Bobby J. Proffitt (Debbie), Jimmy Proffitt (Donna) and Sharon McCullough; and his cousins, Donna and Rita. He was also cherished by numerous nieces and nephews.
