He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Caines and Alice Caines (Hillier); his son Cecil; and his siblings, Mary, Effie and Stan.

He is survived by: his wife Elaine; his children, Linda Head (Earl), Louie, Raymond, David (Alice), Wayne (Juliette) and Donnie; and his daughter-in-law Tracy Blake. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Donations can be made to Alzheimer's Society Of Nova Scotia.
